Warning: Telephone call and website misusing the name of BY Law Limited

A member of the public has received a telephone call from a 'James Martin' misusing the name of BY Law Limited. A website is also operating at 'www.bylawlimited.org.uk'.
What is the scam?
A member of the public has received a telephone call from a James Martin (see below) misusing the name of a genuine firm of solicitors (see below) from the telephone number '07417990548' regarding a supposed payment protection insurance claim.
The SRA has also been advised that a website is operating at 'www.bylawlimited.org.uk'. The website provides an email address of 'info@bylawlimited.org.uk' and the telephone number '+44 3301171510'. A postal code of M12 6JH is provided (see below).
Any business or transaction through the telephone numbers '07417990548' and '+44 3301171510' or the email address 'info@bylawlimited.org.uk' is not undertaken by a firm or solicitor authorised and regulated by the SRA.
Is there a genuine firm or person?
The SRA authorises and regulates a number of solicitors by the name of James Martin. None of the genuine individuals are believed to have any connection to the above matter.
The SRA authorises a genuine firm of solicitors called BY Law Limited. The firm's head office address is 413 Linen Hall, 162-168 Regent Street, London, W1B 5TE and its contact number is 07950379537. Emails from the firm end with the domain @byllaw.com. The genuine firm has confirmed that it has no connection to the telephone call or to the website referred to in the above alert.
The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine firm of solicitors called Farley Dwek Solicitors Limited. The genuine firm's head office address is 1 Floor 1 Universal Square, Devonshire Street North, Manchester, M12 6JH. The genuine firm has confirmed that it has no connection to the telephone call or to the website referred to in the above alert.
What should I do?
When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
